Black Cat: Volume 20: A Carefree Tomorrow

by Kentaro Yabuki, 212 pages

While the others fight off mostly-robot minions, Creed and Train carry on with their all-out throw-down upstairs. Creed's near-immortality and amorphous, toothy sword are stronger than even Train could have imagined. But just when the sweeper thinks he can't take anymore and starts to give up, the faces of friends, past and present, bring him back to himself and remind him to have faith--something Creed lost long ago.

Overall, this series is not a stand-out title in either art or story, but it does well what it sets out to do, and that is to present a sci-fi-ish action story with a lot of action, a little emotional depth, and some fun. If you don't mind giving up twenty-some hours to read the thing, it doesn't demand much else of you in return and leaves you in a hopeful, optimistic mood.
