And Nothing But the Truthiness:
(The rise and further rise of Stephen Colbert)
by Lisa Rogak
294 pages
2011

As a fan of Colbert, I was ready to buy into any premise or method the author chose to present as a biography of the comedian. It’s a pretty boilerplate bio, covering the childhood and fledgling career of the actor-turned keeper of the truthiness flame. What was unexpected was the comedian’s start as a thespian, brooding and angst filled. But upon arriving in Chicago, Colbert lands into the comedy club circuit, including the rarified air of  Second City. The rest, as they say, is history.
