Scotty and his friends are no strangers to wicked winter storms.  They have grown up in a North Eastern community used to long and heavy snows.  But this time a storm like they have never known is upon them before they even truly realize the danger to come.  Seven teens make split decisions that leave them all stranded at their high school. The school is in lock-down. No one is coming for them and the power goes out.  A winter wonderland tale of survival from beginning to end unfolds. Every student must contribute ideas to keep the group awake and alive. Some ideas end in triumph and others end in failure and death.

Maybe the reader should save Northrop's tale to read before or after our actual blizzard season ensues.  Northrop covers every detail and even questioning readers will allow that the possibilities of this blizzard and teens being trapped for days. The best Children's and Young Adult writers always get rid of the grown-ups right away. Northrup gets rid of the grown-ups quickly too.  The survival team uses each of their individual talents to make it through the storm. They learn a good deal about themselves and the others in the process.
