You Can't Fire Everyone by Hank Gilman
I really enjoyed reading Hank Gilman's musings and admonitions. He gives some really great advice in a highly readable, friendly and often amusing style. His rules to live by include: The Don't Lie Rule; Be Kind to All Employees, Even if They Don't Deserve It; The Toyota Rule (which is deal with issues head on, honestly and avoid appearing shifty); The Page Six Rule (imagine what your decisions would look like to others if it appeared on Page 6 of the New York Post); Tone Deafness Rule; The Prozac Rule and so on.
Great for a new manager or anyone who wants to improve their management skills; this is a down to earth take on being the best manager you can be.
