A glutton for punishment and a self-acknowledged fool, Musashi keeps his appointment with the Yoshioka...all 70 of them.
It's Musashi versus the Yoshioka for 190 pages, and he's not done yet. Unfortunately for him, neither are they. The reader listens in as they all focus, scatter, and regroup, learning as they go amidst the chaos of the battlefield. Inoue somehow makes it perfectly plausible that this fight is not ridiculously unbalanced in favor of larger numbers, despite the fact that even the characters think it should be. Musashi may be only one man, but he's got advantages of his own. While Inoue romanticizes the sword, he doesn't shy away from the results of swinging one around, and no one--including Musashi--remains unscathed as the impatient crows gather for a feast.
