With the tide starting to turn in the Yuuzhan Vong war, Luke Skywalker and Leia Organa Solo take on different missions away from the frontlines.

Leia, with her husband Han and daughter Jaina, embarks on a journey to restore communications to various star systems that have been cut off from the Galactic Alliance. In the process, they discover a new tactic of the Yuuzhan Vong that could endanger their lives.

Luke, with his wife Mara and nephew Jacen, go on a quest to the Unknown Regions to find the long, lost, living planet Zonama Sekot. On the way, they pay a visit to the Imperial Remnant in order to gain information about the Unknown Regions and Zonama Sekot. Little do they know that the Yuuzhan Vong have also paid a visit to the Imperial Remnant.

And lastly, Jedi Knight Tahiri Veila, who had previously been tortured by the Yuuzhan Vong, begins having nightmares about a creature with her face relentlessly chasing her. Could this be related to what the Yuuzhan Vong have done to her, or is she just going crazy? The action, danger, twists and turns don't let up in this installment of the Star Wars New Jedi Order series.
